Organizing research opportunities with provenance

Problem

Research-participation opportunities are spread across institutions and project websites. A directory is useful only if readers can identify the opportunity, find its original source and understand what an entry represents. Organizing links is therefore also a provenance and maintenance task: an entry needs a defensible inclusion decision, not just an appealing description.

My contribution

I founded the directory and defined its inclusion criteria, verification fields, provenance model, licensing boundaries and update process. I coordinate AI-assisted implementation, inspect behavior, test releases, diagnose deployment issues and maintain the service.

Result

The dated review found 55 resources. A separate check found 37 Wikidata items that referenced the project URL. The two counts answer different questions: the first describes directory scope and the second a form of reference use. Neither establishes 37 active users, 37 independent scholarly citations or participation in 55 studies. Counts describe the inspected state and are not presented as live counters.

How to inspect it

Open the directory and follow an entry to the original research source. The project repository provides the structure and source history used to maintain the resource. A reviewer can compare the public presentation with those records and inspect changes over time. For any individual opportunity, the originating institution’s current eligibility, consent and participation information governs; a directory entry does not replace those materials.

Publication and validation limits

A publicly deposited DOI provides a persistent record. It does not establish peer review of the directory or scientific validation of its design. Wikidata references establish the referenced URL’s appearance in structured records, with their own provenance. They do not independently verify every statement on the website. No verified user count, revenue figure or effect on recruitment is claimed.

Ongoing responsibility

The work combines resource selection, information architecture, provenance and licensing decisions, functional testing and maintenance. The directory provides a practical way to compare opportunities and reach the original institutions.
